THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON
As a young girl my father used to take me to the observatory at the park down the street from my house. This is where I found my love for the cosmos as I dreamed of distant lands and beautiful new worlds. With the advancements in technology and the devoted men and women of NASA to discover other inhabitable places in our solar system, we can now dream in color and see amazing high def photography of planets light years away in our solar system.
The lunar eclipse of April 15th, 2014 took me back in time to my childhood. As I stared into the heavens and watched this magnificent event unfold, a pink moon appeared and I felt as if it was a gift to me from the universe… since it somehow knew that my favorite color is pink. It is moments like these when I feel divine inspiration and my imagination begins to run wild. I had an overwhelming feeling of power and enlightenment during this eclipse…did you feel it too?
These photos were taken outside of my house. I set my Nikon D90 up on a sturdy tripod with a 80-200mm Telephoto lens and a long exposure. Did I mention while holding my breath? Yes I have a weird tendency to hold my breath while taking photos in order to steady my hand. Try doing that for several 30 second exposures in a row! So on behalf of the Universe, it’s gift to me is also a gift to you.
See you on the Dark Side Of The Moon.
